SAMMY update

Sammy is doing good even though he was diagnosed with Diabetes Inceptions and is now on a human pituitary hormone. His new family adores Sammy and we would like to share a recent email from Sammy’s momma:

“We bought Sammy a sheep skin rug, a bed etc. but his favorite place to sleep is on my robe.  He carries it to his bed or blanket, and twists it up into a pillow.
He is now able to sleep from 10:00PM -about 4:30AM.  Of course, he always wakes up at 5:30 wanting breakfast. He wakes us up by putting his paws on our bed and "talking" to us.

We had all of these "rules" or ideals if you will before we adopted him.  We said we were going to try to stick to dog food--that's out.  We can't help but give him different treats to flavor his food.  We said he wouldn't sleep in our bed--that is out.  We now nap together.  The list goes on and on.  Who can help it when he looks up at you with those eyes?  Not to mention that he hasn't been feeling himself, so I give him extra hugs and love.

He is a lover.  He follows us through the house wherever we go, especially the kitchen!  I lay next to him while we are watching TV and pet him.  He has doggy dreams and makes slight barking noises in his sleep; I wonder what he is dreaming about.

He has really taken to my family.  My dad is 84 and in poor health.  Sammy is so gentle with him.  He lays on his feet, gives him kisses, and falls asleep.  He likes "grandma's" house because she bought all sorts of treat etc. for him.  She is still getting the used to the idea of being called grandma!

It is amazing how your life changes.  If we go out to eat, we now only go to places with a patio so that Sammy can come with us.  We used to go out of town on weekends and look forward to little getaways.  All I want to do now is stay at home and find things to do with Sammy on the weekends.  It would be no fun to leave him behind :(

At this moment he is lying next to me in the office curled up in the office with his beautiful cheeks on his front paws.  I know I am biased, but he is the most beautiful dog in the world.”
